Publication: Faire label. Les Centres culturels de rencontre

A label created in 1972 by the French Ministry of Culture, the Centre culturel de rencontre is still little-identified in the national landscape, despite the fact that it comprises twenty-three venues, not counting its international network.

The result of a survey conducted by Julien Audemard, Aurélien Djakouane and Emmanuel Négrier to gain a better understanding of this label, this book sheds light on an interesting diversity of venues and projects, both artistic and heritage/cultural.

The uniqueness of this label lies in the fact that it is the only one located at the crossroads of creation, heritage and cultural industries. The extreme diversity of its projects reflects the label's renowned artistic and cultural ambition.

The authors aptly point out one of the paradoxes of the CCR label: common networking based on the very strong artistic, cultural and territorial singularity of each project.

The label deserved to be examined in terms of its history and internal coherence, as well as the support it receives in terms of partnerships.

The aim of the research and the resulting book is to prefigure a permanent observatory of the Centres culturels de rencontre, focusing on three dimensions: organizational, sociological and political.
