Implementation of oral telemedicine in Quebec

The University of Montpellier is internationally recognized for its expertise in digital oral health, and particularly for the e-DENT oral telemedicine project, led by Dr Nicolas Giraudeau, MCU-PH in Odontology, attached to CEPEL, CNRS, UM. This project has won several awards, and has been cited as an example by both the French Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization. Dr Giraudeau is a WHO "key expert" in digital oral health, and a board member of a number of learned societies (EADPH, e-OralHealth Network IADR).

Quebec's Ministère de la Santé et des Services Sociaux (MSSS) wants to develop oral telemedicine throughout its territory to improve oral care for dependent elderly people. To this end, the MSSS has enlisted the help of McGill's Faculty of Dentistry. McGill is the only university to have already signed a collaboration agreement on the theme of digital oral health since 01/01/22, so it's only natural that the University of Montpellier should take part in this project. The University of Montpellier is expected to support the implementation of the oral health telemedicine project by sharing its expertise and training professionals in the implementation of this type of project, in the organization of this different type of medical activity, in the training of the healthcare professionals who will participate, in the training of the dental surgeons who will perform the procedures and finally in the participation in the evaluation of the program.
