Comparative socio-history of disciplinary institutionalization policies in higher education and research

Summary:

The SCPID-ESR project aims to reconstruct the origins of the institutionalization of social sciences on a comparative basis by carrying out unprecedented work on unexplored documentation. Drawing on previous research that has identified gaps to be filled, the project aims to highlight, in an original way, the ways in which, based on French and Italian cases, new knowledge has emerged in the field of academic disciplines within higher education and research institutions. In doing so, the aim is to understand the factors that facilitate and limit the structuring of the social sciences at the European level, not from the internal perspective of those who promote and embody a discipline, but by focusing externally on the institutional actors (ministries, research organizations) who decide to give more or less space to emerging knowledge that is subsequently consolidated.
