The task was exciting: to bring together a constellation of talents from political science, sociology, ethnology, and law. My choice, supported by the community, was to materialize the now broader horizon that was opening up to everyone, both in terms of theoretical ambition and the scope of empirical territories, opening the doors of Catalonia wide, for example. The symbol of this approach was embodied in the transformation of the former "Comparative Center for the Study of Public Policy and Local Areas" into the Center for Political Studies of Latin Europe. The dual challenge was and remains clear: not to neglect any aspect of politics a priori and to take into account the strong specificities of countries with a Roman tradition.
