Actions Undertaken by CEPEL During Its Term

The task was exciting: bringing together a diverse group of talents from the fields of political science, sociology, ethnology, and law. My decision, supported by the community, was to give concrete form to the now broader horizon opening up to all, both in terms of theoretical ambition and the scope of empirical fields, throwing wide open the doors to Catalonia, for example. The symbol of this approach was embodied in the transformation of the former “Center for Comparative Studies of Public Policy and Local Spaces” into the Center for Political Studies of Latin Europe. The dual challenge was and remains clear: to neglect no aspect of politics a priori and to take into account the distinct characteristics of countries with a Roman tradition.
