Actions Undertaken by CEPEL During Its Term

The task was exciting: bringing together a constellation of talents from political science, sociology, ethnology, and law. My decision—supported by the community—was to give concrete form to the now-broader horizon opening up to everyone, both in terms of theoretical ambition and the scope of empirical fields, throwing wide open the doors to Catalonia, for example. This approach was symbolized by the transformation of the former “Comparative Center for the Study of Public Policy and Local Spaces” into the Center for Political Studies of Latin Europe. The dual challenge was—and remains—clear: to neglect no aspect of politics a priori and to take into account the distinct characteristics of countries with a Roman tradition.
